Invisible Braces from San Antonio Orthodontist

Braces effectively and gradually shift the teeth into proper position, and our San Antonio orthodontist offers the Invisalign invisible option. Dr. Tom is able to fit most patients with Invisalign, which consist of small plastic aligners that work discreetly, conveniently, and more comfortably than the traditional metal option. They also take about the same amount of time to work as the metal option, but without the obvious appearance or hassle. Our orthodontist will discuss options that can be effective for each individual situation and provide an estimate before any work begins.

Our San Antonio orthodontist starts every treatment plan with a comprehensive dental exam. Dr. Tom examines your teeth, mouth and jawbones through visual inspection and with a series of X-rays. Both help determine the current position of your teeth and what areas are in need of correction. X-rays also allow us to view any teeth that have not yet surfaced and are still developing in the jaw as well as the position and size of your jaws and teeth.

The next step in the dentistry plan is making a plaster model of your teeth to best examine your bite. Creating a plaster model first involves making an impression of your teeth in a soft material and then making a model using the impression. This allows Dr. Tom to further evaluate your bite and determine the most effective treatment plan.

One more step that is not necessary in all cases involves a tooth extraction. When teeth are extremely crowded, there may not be enough room to realign them without first creating room for them to shift into place. Dr. Tom can advise if any extractions or other dentistry work may be necessary as part of the treatment plan.

Installing the braces is the next step, but it is not the final step in our treatment plan. Regular checkup visits allow Dr. Tom to gauge the progress and make any amendments as necessary. It will also give us a better idea of when your braces can be removed to reveal your new smile.
